Our History

House of Refuge Ministries, Inc. is a Christian-based, not for profit, 501(c) 3 organization focused on bringing healing to both persons involved in a relationship of violence. The organization seeks to re-establish families broken by abuse whenever possible.

Relationship violence is the secret killer of thousands of families throughout the world. The abuser, the victim and the children are all hurting and suffering from experiences in their lives. The violence feeds off of these sufferings and knows no economic, social or ethnic boundaries.

House of Refuge Ministries began building the foundation necessary to serve families broken by abuse when it was incorporated in December of 2001.The organization is comprised of dedicated Christian volunteers and staff members that possess a heart and passion to serve others.

House of Refuge Ministries believes it is essential to care for the whole person by sharing the love of Jesus Christ. The organization seeks to meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of individuals broken by abuse. We believe that by demonstrating and sharing the love of Jesus Christ, true healing can come to all those broken by abuse.

• Love - The love that God demonstrates to us through His Son Jesus Christ brings deliverance and healing to all who would receive it. His banner of love flows from His Spirit which dwells in us and is the doorway to healing and restoration. The love of Jesus Christ will be exhibited in all we do and to whom all we serve.

• Unity - A house divided against it's self can not stand. Unity of families will be the desired outcome, as well as Unity of the individual's mind, body, soul, and spirit with God. Partnering with churches and ministries of all denominations within the body of Christ will be our operating standard. Working together by honoring and respecting the diversity of the Spiritual gifts as we serve others in the name of Jesus.

  Mark 3:25 - And a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand.

• Prayer - Prayer to God in the name of Jesus Christ will be the life line and daily operating heart and mind set of this ministry. Only through the power and leading of the Holy Spirit will and can this ministry serve others. This ministry will be a house of prayer.

  Luke 19:46 - It is written, "My house is a house of prayer".
